         Regional media participated in a joint phone interview with doctors from The University of Kansas Health System. Dana Hawkinson, MD, medical director of infection prevention and control, Steve Stites, MD, chief medical officer, and Greg Nawalanic, PsyD, clinical psychologist, gave an update on COVID-19 and the current risk. They also addressed the following:

  • How The University of Kansas Health System is now able to do COVID-19 testing in addition to specimen gathering
  • How the use of telemedicine is increasing
  • How people can cope with the stress of staying at home

            Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 25 at 10 a.m., doctors will be available for more questions and to update the current state of the virus and the risk. Also on the panel will be an emergency department physician to talk about what it’s like to be on the front lines of the COVID-19 battle.
