Overland Park, Kansas Mayor Curt Skoog was in a car crash on I-35 in August, and required immediate medical care. He was taken by ambulance to The University of Kansas Health System, where providers assessed and treated his injuries.
Recovery from the crash required weeks of healing, with the assistance of first responders and doctors and nurses at the hospital.
Mayor Skoog is now recovered and today paid a visit to The University of Kansas Health System to show his gratitude. He brought cookies for medical staff and first responders to share, and used the occasion to describe how he’s learned firsthand the importance of emergency medical services.
In addition to the hospital’s medical team, he thanked Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department staff who responded to the crash scene and Overland Park Fire Department staff of facilitated the mayor’s transitional care.
