The Kansas City Chiefs have broken their training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri as they continue preparing for their season opener on September 7th against the New England Patriots. A full medical team from The University of Kansas Health System has been with the team at camp, including Dr. Luke Thompson and Dr. Paul Schroeppel. In the video, the doctors talk about the challenges of caring for such a large group of players and coaches. They describe the most common kinds of injuries they treat, and how they work in conjunction with the athletic trainers. The weather has been wonderful, and they say that’s caused a false sense of security, as dehydration is still a big problem. The doctors discuss what a typical game day is like for them, and how similar it is to treat pro athletes and high school athletes. They also share the most important tips for high school athletes as they prepare for the fall sports season.
The video also includes b-roll of the football team and the medical team on the field.
