Turning Point, the center for hope and healing, Kansas City's highly respected patient support organization, is now offering programs specifically designed for heart patients. The organization, celebrating its first year as part of The University of Kansas Hospital, has been offering programs for patients and families facing serious or chronic illnesses such as stroke, cancer and neurological diseases. Using classes, activities and education for people of all ages at it Leawood facility, Turning Point provides significant support on an outpatient basis after patients leave the hospital, delivering a continuum of care which impacts healing both physically and emotionally. Moira Mulhern, PhD, the organization's co-founder and chief executive officer, said many new programs, designed for heart patients and their families, have been added. These programs include classes on managing stress, nutrition, and an exercise class called "T'ai Chi for the heart."
