Emmy® award winning news anchor, Alexis Del Cid, joined the Medical News Network team in September of 2021, after nearly 25 years as an anchor and reporter at radio stations and television stations across America.

She is also active educating people about Alzheimer’s disease and sharing her family’s journey with Alzheimer’s Disease. Her father was diagnosed in 2019. She regularly posts about it on her Facebook page along with her blog

“This journey is gut-wrenching and excruciating. But don’t expect my blog to always be maudlin. My dad would have hated that. He made a living for 50 years on the radio, surprising people with irreverent humor and one-liners. It was his love language and still is. I honor him with that legacy. My dad would be deeply disappointed if you did not find humor in some of the things I share.”

When it comes to her career here at The University of Kansas Health System, reporting and anchoring for the Medical News Network, it’s a dream come true.

“I am in the city I love, working with people I love, telling the stories of incredible patients, doctors, nurses, researchers, and all sorts of other amazing care team members. What an honor to be surrounded by brilliant people every day," says Alexis.

Yes, that’s Alexis juggling three tennis balls while waterskiing. "I never realized I’d get so much mileage out of such a weird skill. My dad taught me how do ski when I was five. Next, he taught me how to juggle. Finally, he taught me how to do both at the same time!”
